The Sr. Innovation Program Strategist is an experienced analyst who will gather and analyze data to solve complex problems, and evaluate scenarios to make predictions on future outcomes and support decision making. As part of Upbring Innovation Lab, you will have a significant role in shaping the future of the childcare and family services industry. Acting independently, the Sr. Innovation Program Strategist will serve as a technical expert in ideation, business planning and go-to-market strategy. The Sr. Innovation Program Strategist will be responsible for collecting and using data to evaluate and model out business opportunities, mitigate risk, and drive go-to-market strategy. You will be part of a small team with high visibility whose goal is identifying and building out new lines of business, partnerships, and investment opportunities that help break the cycle of child abuse by empowering children, families, and communities.


Essential Duties:

  • Conducts extensive formal research and knowledge gathering around business ideas and investment opportunities, including SWOT analysis and risk assessment
  • Collaborates with the Director of Business Intelligence & Innovation to prioritize business ideas, and identify new, sustainable lines of operations within the organization
  • Builds out business models, go-to-market strategy and leads the creation of business plans
  • Conducts SROI evaluation to help the organization understand the mission impact of new business opportunities
  • Manages pipeline of business ideas and investment opportunities
  • Encourages and helps create a culture of innovation
  • Effectively communicates progress and reports to the Director of Business Intelligence & Innovation to ensure awareness of the activities, the degree of resource investment, and to assure that the project/activities continue to meet operation goals
  • Establishes an environment of high performance and continuous improvement that values learning, a commitment to quality, welcomes and encourages collaboration, and fosters both intra and inter-department dialogue and respect
  • Follows up on go-to-market strategy and may be asked to assist in managing the “first-mile” rollout of new business lines
  • Assists in various administrative tasks and processes with direction from the Director of Business Intelligence & Innovation
  • Assists in the coordination, centralization, and mobilization of agency data
  • Other duties as assigned

  • Participate in cross-training activities, cross-functional (department) sharing of knowledge, share expertise and knowledge with Upbring teams and learn from others to expand knowledge

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations OR related field or equivalent in years of applicable work experience.
  • 3 yrs combined experience at an innovation lab, venture capital firm, accelerator/incubator, management consulting firm and/or entrepreneurial organization
  • Exceptional research and analytical skills derived from formal research and knowledge gathering
  • Results-oriented with the ability to take ownership of research, and work autonomously in an unstructured environment with minimal direction
  • Mission-driven professional who is passionate about innovation, startups, and emerging sectors
  • Experience conducting SWOT analysis, due diligence reporting, creating business models, and scaling plans
  • Experience launching new business lines or entrepreneurship
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Excel (pivot tables), Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years combined experience at an innovation lab or department, venture capital firm, accelerator/incubator, management consulting firm, and/or entrepreneurial organization
  • Proven due diligence experience analyzing new business lines, startup companies, or M&As
  • Strong personal business network
  • Experience working at a non-profit
