The Most Interesting Man in the World Retires in Final Dos Equis Ad #TBT

We don’t always throw it back on Thursdays, but wait. Yes, we do. Let’s start over. We don’t always want memes to die, but when we do, it helps that the Most Interesting Man in the World is retiring. After 10 years of winning gold, silver, and bronze metals; imbibing with gorgeous women; and acing the Rorschach test, Jonathan Goldsmith stepped down as Dos Equis’ fictional spokesman. And he did it in style.

In his final Dos Equis Ad, the Most Interesting Man in the World embarked on his greatest adventure yet—to Mars. And unlike Matt Damon, he’s never coming back (oops: spoiler alert!). But Heineken intends to replace him with someone even more interesting, so “stay thirsty, my friends”, something Dos Equis VP of Marketing, Andrew Katz, says is more of a mindset than a tagline. Cheers to that mindset!

Like Goldsmith took to the sky just once for his one-way mission to Mars, the 60-second spot from Havas Worldwide only aired once on TV—during the March 10th matchup between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Los Angeles Lakers, which was also the last time Kobe Bryant and LeBron James faced each other. The Black Mamba’s final game, and The Most Interesting Man in the World’s final Dos Equis ad: adios, amigos, and stay thirsty.
